As someone who is fascinating by documentary directors such as Alex Gibney, Ken Burns, and Werner Herzog, I find myself drawn to deep investigative journalism. There is something deeply compelling about setting out to unravel a story and taking the necessary time and research to uncover those details. I think the principles of this class will serve me well in a career in documentary filmmaking.

What I am most excited about is learning more thorough research techniques and methods to further develop well-rounded stories. I want all my stories to be exhaustive and developed. I am excited to learn how to dive head-first into a story and discover methods of painting a more detailed picture.

I think this class will make me a better researcher and a more insightful writer. It will prepare me to write about what I truly understand because I will have taken the necessary time to understand it in the first place. Proper articulation must follow proper education.
